Project Case Study: Sculptural Table for Bureau Interior Design

Being a small studio that deeply values collaboration within our community, we love partnering with other local businesses to support the work that they are doing here in Nashville. We recently got the opportunity to work with Bureau Interior Design to create a custom circular table for one of their client’s. With minimal guidelines of pre-selected materiality and color, the team at Bureau trusted Aberdeen with the overall vision and execution of the piece. This allowed us flexible creative freedom to dream up a unique idea that would translate well into a high-end residential space.

After some brainstorming in our studio, we created a few conceptual renderings for the client who approved the overall design. While the table itself needed to embody both hospitality and functionality, we wanted it to present as a piece of art; taking on a sculptural form. The circular top and the lapsed base complimented the table’s organic curved structure, while the small sphere detail at the bottom allowed for a moment of curiosity and playfulness. This piece was made from solid ebonized ash, a common practice in our studio that darkens a naturally light colored wood to make it appear as black ebony. This process allows for a distinct richness and texture throughout the graining.

We are always excited when we get to collaborate with local designers on custom furniture pieces; this has become an integral part of our business and we hope to continue to build community within our city through creating together. If you are interested in working with us on your next project, send us an email! We would love to learn more about the work you are doing and the vision that you have for your client’s space.
