Project Case Study: Le Labo Collaboration

We partnered with Le Labo fragrances in a recent collaboration to create custom fragrance boxes for their nationwide popup that launched in October in Nashville at Imogene + Willie. Le Labo or, “the laboratory” in French, was developed in 2006 by co-founders Eddie Roschi and Fabrice Penot in New York City and has since grown to be an international luxury fragrance brand. As a company, they have established themselves as a trusted resource for perfumery and candles, hand-blending and bottling each fragrance in-store and customizing the labels for each of their customers. At the heart of it, Le Labo seeks to make soulful fragrances created by hand in lieu of modernity and quick consumerism; a true laboratory experience committed to the spirit of alchemy.

At Aberdeen, we always seek to partner with companies who deeply value craftsmanship and personalization, and Le Labo has built their brand by continually abiding by this narrative of excellence. For the custom display boxes, we wanted to use this as an opportunity to provide a deeper and more rich, sensory experience for Le Labo’s customers. The boxes needed to procure a certain synchronicity to the essence of this brand itself, one that embraced an apothecary nature. Inspired by the organic base ingredients of the fragrances ranging from rose and cedar to sandalwood, we constructed the boxes from local reclaimed wood to accent that existing natural warmth and resonance. To complete the design, we applied a herringbone detail to the top of the box in an effort to support the customization Le Labo is known for.

While the pop-up only lasted a little over a month, we were excited to have Le Labo here in Nashville creating high-quality custom fragrances for our local community. We deeply enjoyed partnering with their team, and look forward to seeing this company thrive in the fine perfumery industry!
