Team Member Profile: Meet Breanna

This week on the blog we are featuring our Administrative Assistant, Breanna! Bre recently joined our team, and we are so lucky to have her. She has been a steady source of joy and consistency, helping the business side of Aberdeen run smoothly and fitting right into our community of creatives. If you visit our shop, you will most likely see Bre on her laptop helping us stay organized on the day to day. We are stoked to feature her this week on the blog, and excited to share a little bit more about her!

ON MENTAL HEALTH//

Q: COVID-19 really made us reevaluate how our work lives and personal lives intersect. How do you separate the two and what practices do you implement to keep your mental health at the forefront?

A: By trying to detach from work when I'm not working or during non-working hours. Also, it helps working with people who encourage me to set boundaries and then actually respect those boundaries.

Q: Oftentimes in the construction industry, deadlines, scheduling, and coordination can feel very all-consuming and demanding of immediate attention. How do you allow yourself space to move throughout this process in a way that is honoring to your own mental health and also give yourself the permission to remain present to this overall life experience?

A: I'm learning that my time and energy deserves just as much respect as anyone else's.

Q: Why do you think the stigma behind mental health and work + life balance is just now being reexamined globally and in what ways do you hope to see our world shift in implementing new practices of self-care?

A: Covid really slowed everything down and gave people a chance to reevaluate their lives and discover what's important to them. With everything picking back up, I hope people remember it's ok to slow down and reflect on themselves to maintain their desired paths.

Q: Something surprising about you?

A: I attempted to be a magician. Even attending a magicians convention in Vegas. I was horrible at it but it was still bremagical.

Q: What could we find you doing on any given Saturday afternoon?

A: Spending time with my partner and two cats, cooking weird recipes found online and playing Lego games.

Q: And lastly, tell us something about yourself that you like, and why it’s an important part of who you are and how you exist in the world.

A: I like that I'm a very open and sometimes odd person, it makes others feel comfortable around me and makes it easier to connect with someone.
