Project Case Study: Elegy’s Second Location- Germantown
If you’ve been to the newest location of Nashville-based coffee shop, Elegy, then you’ve already had a chance to see our custom made cabinetry, millwork and furniture up close. As one of our longtime clients, we’ve been there since day 1 of planning for their Germantown location. Their original location in East Nashville, is considered a well-loved, neighborhood staple, offering high quality craft coffee to the local community who have come to rely on their inventive, yet curated menu of offerings for a caffeine fix and a quick nosh. The second location was a long-time coming and a natural extension of this well-established local business. This space offers more seating, more light and a more visible street-facing storefront. Luckily for us, this meant more opportunities for us to collaborate and offer our services for custom made cabinetry, millwork and furniture pieces.Step into the Elegy coffee in Germantown and you’ll immediately be surrounded by all types of our custom work. Cabinetry/Millwork
Merchandise Hub
Attractive storage space is critical to a working interior space like Elegy’s Germantown location. Merchandise can be stored in this storage cabinet without any risk of damage and the aesthetic of the room stays in line with the original aesthetic vision of the space that highlights clean lines, plant life, natural materials and muted tones. The cabinet doors and drawer fronts are made of white oak veneer to withstand frequent daily use.
To-Go Station
Taking your coffee to-go? You’ll encounter our custom-designed to-go station which houses all of the takeaway coffee essentials. Made of white oak wood, with custom powder coated steel details, it’s strong enough to withstand high traffic and classically designed to keep up with appearances throughout a busy day.
Pastry Display Case
A custom pastry case to house the tastiest of treats. Made of solid white oak, this tri-level shelf cabinet surrounded by glass on three sides allows for a minimal countertop footprint for a space-saving solution while allowing maximum customer vantage points to view tasty pastry products.
Furniture
Banquettes with Built-In Planters
Plant life is a show stopping feature at Elegy’s East Nashville location. For the Germantown location we created an intentional way to show off plants with custom made banquettes for seating with built-in solid white oak planters. By featuring plants prominently within the furniture design, an overall relaxing and pleasant aesthetic and atmosphere is created for the customer.
Cafe Chairs
We created not one, not two but *three* prototypes when we designed these chairs. Not only did we use traditional woodworking techniques that embrace the minimal and natural characteristics of Japanese design but we also focused on the ergonomic design of these to create a naturally comfortable sitting experience.
High Top Tables
Made of solid white oak wood, this table features a few different wood joinery techniques we commonly use in the studio. Designed to withstand frequent use, the length of the table is over 6 feet long, making it an often used piece of furniture in the coffee shop.
